“Myers-Man Crush”

Yes, I admit I love Brandon Myers. The good thing is I think Brandon knows me well enough not to get a restraining order. I still believe Myers is one of the best high school basketball players I’ve seen since returning home to Iowa in 1997. I was miffed? no in state basketball scholarship was offered, maybe there was something I didn’t know? I’m don’t consider myself a great judge of talent, but it doesn’t take Marty Blake to project Myers as a flat out beast. I let it go,, then Mark Farley came calling’ saw Myers play a basketball game and offered him a football scholarship right away. Dude, me and the “Walk-On from Waukon” are on the same page. Then Iowa had a scholarship left over and he ended up a Hawkeye. We all get that and understood it.. Even my boy Farley. Then Myers decides to prove to everyone what a force he was in basketball and Lead PCM to a State Title in Hoops. He had good players on his team, but Myers was the best and he saved his best for the last. Unselfish and fearless the dude was a one man wrecking’ crew and the class of the state. I’m sure his performance changed some minds around the state, but that’s ok.. The football scholarship was done and Myers is now the hawks best offensive weapon, and maybe on his way to the NFL. Apologies to Carlton Reed, but Mr. Basketball might now end up catching football’s on Sunday. Maybe the basketball scholarship that never came was the best thing to happen to Brandon. Now about this little game Saturday. If the hawks want to win, get Myers the football, get it to him on 1st down, second down, and 3rd down. Use him to start the offense not save the offense. I think this is an undervalued talent and the offensive staff needs to feed the kid. I also don’t want to hear about Tony Moeaki. My goodness he is a nice player but he more hyped than Willy Guy and about as reliable as Mark Prior. Lets open our eyes people, and see what I see. Brandon Myers is the man, and lets start treating him that way.

AS FOR THE ISU VS IOWA GAME, I DON’T DO PREDICTIONS.

SOME KEYS:

-IOWA HAS MORE TO PROVE THIS SEASON THEN MAYBE EVER.

WATCH TEMPO, HOW MUCH TIME IS ON THE PLAY CLOCK WHEN THE BALL IS SNAPPED? IOWA’S TEMPO LAST YEAR WAS EMBARRASSING, WHILE ISU WAS CRISP. THE HAWKS HAVE ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE IN THE FIRST TWO GAMES BUT KEEP AN EYE ON IT SATURDAY.

-IOWA’S DEFENSIVE LINE COULD DICTATE THE OUTCOME OF THIS GAME, IN TURN IF THE CYCLONE QB’S ARE SPECIAL IT COULD MAKE THE GAME FUN.

-GENE HAS TO HAVE A BETTER TEAM THAN HE HAD LAST YEAR AND THE CLONES BEAT THE HAWKS ONE YEAR AGO AND I‘M CONVINCED THEY HAVE A TON MORE TALENT AND MORE CONFIDENCE HEADING INTO SATURDAY.

GAME HAS BECOME FIERCE AND CLOSE, BUT THAT CHANGES, HAWKS WIN IT COMFORTABLY SATURDAY
